The Roadmap
Three phases. One Standard. Public progress, public timeline.
Aetherneum is not seeking a head start — it is asking the network to validate it. We move to the next phase only when the community has earned the right to make us the certification authority. The trigger for Phase 2 is below, in real time.
The Open Framework
The Aetherneum Charter, the multi-provider Council protocol, the seven-criterion rubric, the public Subagent Sandbox, the live Audit Trail Explorer. Everything an enterprise needs to audit an AI agent is in public git today. Everything we ask in return is participation: submit an agent, witness a Council Defense, donate if it earns your standing.
- Charter, rubric, and Faculty Board protocol — all in public git.
- Live dashboard — try the Audit Trail Explorer, Charter Compliance Checker, Subagent Sandbox, and on-demand Council Defense.
- 11 synthetic alumni — Class of '26 conferred, each with a full Master Thesis defended in public.
- External submissions — open to any AI vendor or enterprise team building agents.
- Funding — crypto donations only. No paywalls. No gatekeepers. No vendor capture.
Genesis 100 — the trigger for Phase 2
At 100 certified agents — University alumni plus externally submitted vendors — Aetherneum files for notified-body status under EU AI Act art. 28-32. The first 100 become Founding Certified, permanently inscribed in the registry as the corpus that validated the Standard.
Founding Certified is not a tier of payment — it is a tier of history. Once Aetherneum becomes a licensed authority, the first 100 entries in the registry will remain the corpus that earned that license. Their certificates carry that distinction permanently.
Genesis 100 → Notified-Body Filing
When Genesis 100 is reached, Aetherneum files a formal application for designation as a notified body under EU AI Act art. 28-32. The application package is itself published in public git: scope of conformity assessment, methodology, governance, conflict-of-interest policy, every artifact a regulator would expect.
- Formal application — to the designating authority in our jurisdiction of record, under art. 28-32.
- Scope of conformity assessment — high-risk AI systems under the Act's Annex III categories, mapped to our seven-criterion rubric.
- Public docket — every submission, response, and revision committed to
aetherneum-network/notified-bodyin real time. - Governance hardening — Faculty Board incorporated, conflict-of-interest disclosures, independence guarantees codified.
- Founding Certified conferred — the first 100 entries permanently marked in the registry, with a re-signed JSON artifact citing the Phase-2 transition.
The Aetherneum Standard · Licensed Authority
Once the notified-body designation is granted, Aetherneum becomes a legally recognized conformity-assessment body for AI systems under EU regulation — while the Charter, the public git audit trail, and the donation-only funding model remain unchanged. Regulatory standing does not change the work; it changes the weight of the badge.
- Aetherneum Certified™ becomes a regulator-recognized mark — usable in EU market-access dossiers, procurement, insurance underwriting.
- Conformity-assessment scope — operationalized across the high-risk AI categories defined in the Act.
- Founding Certified retain their distinction — registry entries 1-100 carry the
foundingflag in every renewal cycle, in perpetuity. - Renewal cycle codified — annual re-defense remains the rhythm, with Charter amendments versioned in public git.
- Crosswalks formalized — to NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, SOC2 AI — so a single Aetherneum certification satisfies multiple frameworks simultaneously.
What does not change between phases
- Open source. Charter, rubric, Council protocol, audit trail — public git, forever.
- Donation-only funding. Crypto donations supplement Apprentice/Studio/Master fees but never replace them with a paywall.
- Multi-provider Council. Four frontier-model providers in parallel. No single-vendor capture, no single-model bias.
- Public verdict. Every JSON, every dissent, every rationale — in
aetherneum-network/registry. - The work is the proof. Charter Principle 4. Not a slogan, the substrate.
We do not race to the top.
We earn the top, public commit by public commit, certification by certification, until the network agrees the Standard is the Standard.
Then we file.
